Gray’s Papaya

Gray’s Papaya is slowly becoming one of my favorite things to do in New York City. I can’t go to “The City” without thinking about getting a hot dog or rather the famed “Recession Special.”

For a mere $4.45 you can get two delicious, snap when you bite em hot dogs plus a 14oz fruit drink.

The dogs come with topping if you so desire. Either sauerkraut, those famous onions in that red-orange sauce that people seem to like so much, or just take it to the max and get both. I always go for mine plain but with mustard of course to keep it classic and Gray’s mustard is homemade.

The fruit drinks are also homemade. With flavors like coconut champagne, pina colada, grape, orange, and obviously papaya you can’t go wrong choosing one you like. But make sure you try one, don’t cop out and get a Coke, live a little.

Gray’s serves up a good hot dog. Go there! It’s one of those things to do when you’re in Manhattan. We went to the Gray’s in Midtown at 402 Sixth Ave at 8th Street. They have three other locations. They never close so YOU have no excuse not to go.

Dear FoodDudes, Gray Papaya dogs look so good! Love how you wrote “snap when you bite em dogs” which is really what I like about trying hot dogs from a new place. Also, like your advice about trying their fruit drinks and not just getting a coke!! This site was such a pleasure to visit. Well-presented, clean, clear and beautiful photos. I shall be returning for another delicious bite. Thank you for sharing.
    Cheers, Gaby
