Serendipity iii

It has been in movies, including one of the same name, Serendipity. At 225 East 60th Street sits a tiny café called Serendipity iii. I have been intrigued by this place ever since I saw John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale sipping on a delicious, large looking, chocolate concoction.

I finally had my chance to go there a few weeks back.

At first I was annoyed because of the near two hour wait on a Saturday evening but its New York City after all so I sucked it up and walked around before my table was ready. But waiting for their famous drink, the Frozzzzen Hot Chocolate was well worth it.

My friends and I did actually have dinner at a place mostly famous for its sweet desserts. The food was honestly just average, I mean I’m really in no position to judge since I only had an omelet with chili and cheddar cheese. Damion had a burger, as usual. Rob, an open-faced grilled chicken sandwich of sorts. Everything looked good and my friends didn’t complain about anything. Next time I will be sure to try something other than something I could easily make at home and not be a disgrace to foodies everything by ordering eggs at dinner.

Honestly, we were there for the drink. Frozzzzen Hot Chocolate. Just typing that makes me want to drop what I’m doing, quit life, and drink them forever. It really was that good. The towering goblet was nearly the size of my head. When you’re there you see the wait staff bringing the drinks out regularly. It arrives and it’s nearly overflowing with the chocolaty frozen liquid stuff which they’d never reveal the secret to, whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and two straws.

I have to thank them for the double straw action. It was so good I would have dunked my face in it. I even got a “good job” from our waiter since I sucked it down so fast.

I can’t wait to go back.

You can even pick up packets of the Frozzzzen Hot Chocolate drink mix at the store in the lobby of Serendipity. Check it out if you’re in the area, better yet, bring a date.
