I left work on a cold, rainy Thursday night and on a day where I never felt so hungry. I wanted something filling, tasty, and original. I didn’t have time to waste because it during final exam week for school and I had to be on time. I was tired of the quick stop at your typical fast food joint so I wanted to try something else.
Several years before on a lunch trip, a friend and I went to a little Mexican food truck called El Charrito, parked on Richmond Hill Avenue in Stamford, CT. I knew it was time to revisit. As I was taking the normal route home and to my delight, I saw the truck.
I parked my car and walked to the window. As I was looking over the menu on the side of the truck, I was handed an additional menu. There were so many tempting meals that I didn’t know what to go with. I needed something quick and something I could chow down on while I was driving. I went with a burrito.
I was a little skeptical about ordering a burrito from a truck, but they way I see it, you only live once. Life is about taking chances and this was a good chance. The burrito was excellent. The truck says authentic and this holds true. I’m not sure if you could get more authentic than what I got. It was a grilled chicken burrito with lettuce, homemade mild salsa, melted cheddar cheese, and black beans wrapped in a flour tortilla. It sounds basic, but the home made salsa was something amazing. I consumed the whole thing within minutes and regretted not getting a second burrito!
The El Charrito truck is usually parked in front of Hatch Field in Stamford right across from the Bank of America from roughly 11 a.m.-9 p.m. every day. If you are looking for a quick bite when you are on the go, have that desire foe authentic Mexican food, or if you’re just in the area, you should check out the El Charrito truck, and make sure you get their home made salsa, its quite palette pleasing.
