Sometimes you really just need a break from everything. That is what raced through my mind all day at work. It was yet another stressful day and I had worked up one hell of an appetite.
I have been trying to eat somewhat healthy the past few months because race season is in my near future and things were going to get a little crazy for me. Besides the races, life is a bit chaotic since I am getting married soon and I’m a student. I ran into some good luck when school was out for spring break and I didn’t have to deal with that everyday ride to class and skipping dinner. Once this thought settled in my mind, I knew what I had to do next.
Some time ago, a coworker told me of a popular burger place in Rye Brook, NY called Elevation Burger. If you know me, once I hear the word “burger,” it’s game on. He told me that it’s real good and that I should definitely stop by there some time and review it. Well, that time was today. I decided that I would push aside my super healthy, boring eating for the day and take on something with a little more flavor than what I have been doing.
When work let out, it began to snow, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I had that burger place on my mind and I was in full motion. Surprisingly, it didn’t take long for me to get to Elevation Burger from my job. I ran in out of the snow and made my way in. The place looked like it was new. It was very clean and tidy. This is usually a good sign. If they take care with their restaurant, they take care with their food.
Like any other burger place, the menu hung above the register with your choice of burger toppings, cheeses and sides. I ordered the classic, The Elevation Burger with double meat, bacon, double cheese, real cheese, six month aged cheddar. Once I saw that I couldn’t wait to taste it. Elevation Burger is quite popular for their 100% grass fed organic beef. There was a part of me that felt like I was still eating really healthy.
As a side I went with fries as one would predict when hitting up a burger joint. The nice part about these fries was that they were deep fried in 100% olive oil. You don’t really see that when you go to burger place. Ever.
My order was up and I took my photos as fast as I could because I couldn’t wait much longer to eat. I sank my teeth into the burger. Hot and Juicy, full of flavor and the aged cheddar stood out. It was great. It was what I wanted in a burger. The fries were hot out of the olive oil as well and were just as good. They were the nice golden crispy fries that you would see in ads with the perfect texture. On the menu it says “Fresh Fries,” not French fries. Play on words or living up to what they really are? They were fresh and there was no denying that.
I will definitely go back to Elevation Burger and I need to do it soon. I already have another craving for the good quality beef they use in their burgers. Find a fast food joint that has high grade beef and one that also fries in olive oil. Their slogan is “Ingredients matter.” They sure do!
