Photos + Recap from #GWFF2015!

The Greenwich Wine + Food Festival is easily one of my favorite in the state to attend and it’s never short on fun, food, drinks and good friends. Not only do I have a blast meeting people and chatting with the vendors, but I know most of them and it’s cool to see chefs do their thing (and get honored) who I have come to know professionally and personally. GWFF is also a great excuse to hang with food blogger buddies (and real life friends too) from OmNomCT, Local Food Rocks, CTbites, The Home Place Blog, dee Cuisine, and Savory Sweet Eats. Make sure you check out their sites and Facebook pages for their recaps and photos.

This year I didn’t only attend Saturday’s Culinary Village and the actual Fest, but I got to go to the festivities the night before at the Most Innovative Chefs Gala that honored local chefs, each of whom cooked their signature dishes for the crowd.

Here are a bunch of photos from the Gala and some from the day of the Fest.

Most Innovative Chefs Gala
Chef David Raymer of Strada 18 in South Norwalk

Chef Matt Storch (Match, The Chelsea) right before serving the masses.

Matt Storch always brings truffles.

Gnocchi w/Parmesan cream sauce, black truffle.

Chef Storch also made truffled rice, raw tuna, black truffle. Amazing.

The Vespa crew!

Chef David White in action!

More action!

Bottled sangria from Vespa.

Shake it!

One of the best items of the night, Chef White’s lobster and sweet corn risotto.

Searing off some pork belly

Another favorite was Chef Pat’s pork belly w/tomato jam, runny egg, polenta.

Pork belly all ova da place!

The Granola Bar team!

Chef Jess from The Granola Bar made one of the best chicken Pad Thai dishes I’ve had. It wasn’t one note like most Pad Thai, it had some citrus that really brightened it up.

Homemade espresso sodas!

The Cookery in the house slicing up some pig’s head!

More slicing!

Chef David DiBari (middle) and the fellas from The Cookery.

And this is what they made. Yeah, that’s sliced pig’s head in a cinnamon sugar donut with maple syrup. This is all-time great.

Chef Luke Venner and Pastry Chef Kara Koehmstedt of Elm

Chef Erik Erlichson of Bistro V in Greenwich. Check him out! A good dude, and a terrific chef!

Chef Renato Donzelli (right) of Basso Cafe

And Basso Cafe’s super tender filet mignon.

John Stage. Yeah, that’s the Dinosaur BBQ guy!
The Food (and Food Related Stuff)

Chef Michael Lucente (Barcelona) slices up iberico ham.

One of the better bites, hanger steak w/chimichurri and potatoes from Parallel Post in Trumbull.

Chips and guac from Geronimo.

Pork tacos from Tomatillo Taco Joint in Cos Cob.

Spotted the Little Pub mobile on the way to the fest!

Slider from Fleishers Craft Butchery in Westport.

Food blogger slider salute with Plan B Burger Bar’s creations. They won the burger battle for the third straight year!

Boxcar Cantina tacos with “special sauce” that was so hot it had some of us literally jumping in the air.

 The People 🙂

Found Kara Koehmstedt again!

The Master Sommelier at Stella Artois, Marc
Stroobandt, was on hand for cheese pairings and such. Awesome!

Trev Rosetta and his folks. Trev is a bartender at NEAT Westport. Go there. Drink. Trust me.

And now they’re joined by the sister! Lindsay is the GM at Vespa.

Black Hog Beer!

Rum tasting? Of course!

Rob of Food Dudes about to dive into a taco.

My pals Dan & Kristien set to interview chefs Bengston, Erlichson and Donzelli.

Talking food, no doubt.

That’s me before eating a super spicy taco. It stung my mouth for a good 30 minutes after.

 The Selfies (because it’s obligatory)

Rocco DiSpirito took a selfie with me.

I cheesed way too hard for this and look cross-eyed, but that’s Baba Booey and Adam Richman!

Clowning around with Rachel

Hanging with Sarah, Yamini and Ellen

Then Rocco posted our photo! Crazy! He was really cool, btw, super nice and talkative guy.

  4. Really nice guy. He didn't try to bail on the conversation, kept talking, was engaging. He was hosting but just kinda chillin with his girl. I felt bad to interrupt but he didn't seem to mind at all.

  5. I also miss the CTbites lounge. This year I didn't really feel the way they GWFF did it. The interviews that took place outside couldn't even be heard and I felt bad for my friends who hosted some of the interviews and for the chefs that were part of it. Hope they bring it back the way it was before. It would've been nice to get some time with the celeb chefs. I so badly wanted to meet Alex and Geoffrey.
